Name - Oliver Seyama
Position - Indoor Gardener
Dates of employment - 1913 - 1973

Born in Huntingdon, Oliver Seyama came to Tredegar House in 1913 at the age of 17. Just one year later, he left to fight in the First World War. When he returned, there was a new head gardener, Mr, Waller, who built the staff up to 30 people by 1930.
Seyama, who had Japanese forebears, was often remembered as 'Seymour', but must have been well known as he worked at Tredegar for 60 years, up until 3 weeks before his death. He married Beatrice Buchanan, one of the Buchanan family that worked at Tredegar.
