The
Cow Bathroom
Originally
the Cow Bathroom was the Master's private study, accessible only via
the Master's Bedchamber. In 1905, however, Godfrey Morgan had the room
converted into a very modern and hi-tech bathroom. It was known as the
Cow Bathroom because of the large collection of Cow-shaped creamer jugs
that were displayed on the shelves. All the fixtures and fittings in
the room were executed by Royal Doulton, and included a shower that
sprays water horizontally from pipes on the corner of the cabinet as
well as the head at the top, a heated towel rail and a bidet. The use
of the bidet had only recently started in Britain in 1905, showing that
Godfrey had plenty of money to invest in the latest technologies. Today,
the bathrom has been painted in a traditional Edwardian colour scheme.
